Several years ago, Henry Dumonceaux, of Dexon Canada, custom built me a furnace with several layers of filtration. That was the beginning of my recovery.
I had been quite ill for some time and my environmental sensitivities had begun to go wild. I reacted to more things each week. I seemed on a slippery slope unable to stop reacting to a cascading number of problem substances. Indeed these reactions were not only preventing my recovery, they were making me more ill.
I read extensively on the subject (when I could stand the smell of the books, magazines or pamphlets). I had my house tested for irritants or pollutants and tried all sorts of coping measures . By the time I heard about Henry I had got rid of my gas stove, turned off the fireplace pilot lights, given away all my house plants, didn't allow newspapers or old books or people with any scented products on themselves or their clothes in my home, and I was still struggling.
Within weeks of the furnace being installed, I realized I was sitting near a newspaper someone had brought in and I wasn't reacting. Normalcy crept up. Gradually I tolerated more and more things to which I had previously reacted.
Initially I was religious about keeping the windows closed and the furnace filtration going full time. After a couple of years, I was able to be more relaxed about that and have even had Henry remove some of the layers of filtration.
I still react to a few things, but am so much better now I am even able to travel. Henry's furnace was the foundation for my turnaround; once I was breathing highly filtered air and my body wasn't continually battling irritants and pollutants, my energy went to recuperation instead. I am immensely grateful to him.
